How it Started
My great-grandma — “GG” to me — had a pie crust recipe passed down from her mother. It was humble, made with simple, real ingredients and rolled with love.
That recipe moved from mother to daughter for many generations, eventually reaching my Grams. She baked pastries with it whenever she could, and turned the leftover dough into little pinwheels so nothing ever went to waste.
Those treats were the soundtrack to my Southern California childhood in the 70s and 80s.
Endless beach days - Dolphin shorts, tube socks, and roller skates - Saturday morning cartoons Atari battles on the living room floor - Disco music blaring from the FM radio.
Years have passed and the recipe has too. Now it’s my turn.
